17 July 2022 - Intro to Special Needs Rescue Cats - Maverick and Tonto

Meet special needs rescue cats Maverick and Tonto. They are gorgeous, as are all cats who come into care. They came from near the local tip.

Maverick has had his tail cut off by someone or something unknown, and Tonto is blind in one eye, with limited sight in the other.

On top of their physical challenges, these babies were riddled with gastric and who knows what else. We were not sure that they would both survive.

They are so cuddly and loving- they attach themselves to their foster mum and hold on for dear life while purring their little hearts out. They know they are safe.

In rescue, you don’t give up on an animal. You do everything possible to ensure they get the best care, treatment, and love. If the worst does happen, you know you have given everything.

Tonto and Maverick are little fighters.

27 July 2022 - Update Special Needs Rescue Cats - Maverick and Tonto

We are delighted to say Maverick and Tonto are now back home with their carer, and we hope they stay there.

Maverick is still having a little trouble but has made a new best bud in the form of Tiny Tim.

All your help and support are very much appreciated. We’re looking forward to finding these boys their forever homes when the time comes. They deserve so much love after everything they’ve been through.

10 August 2022 - Update Special Needs Rescue Cats - Maverick and Tonto

Tonto is a little fighter. He has pulled out all the stops with his brother, Maverick, to make it through.

Saved from Lithgow dump, Tonto and Maverick have a long journey ahead of them. Maverick still requires surgery for his tail stump, and Tonto will need to have his blind eye removed to prevent future problems.

Tonto is gorgeous (as is Maverick!), and he loves cuddles, playing with the other kittens in care, getting pats, and (for some unknown reason) licking eyebrows. Perhaps he thinks they need a groom?

Tonto will be looking for his forever home once he’s old enough to be desexed and when he has fully recovered from his upcoming surgery. We are so proud of how well these boys have done, and we can’t wait to see them find a beautiful home.

30 August 2022 - Update Special Needs Rescue Cat -Tonto

Tonto has been in care since he was a tiny kitten. It has been a tough road, and now at three and a half months, Tonto is ready to find his forever family. He is fighting fit for it too.

Tonto loves cuddles and purring and will bask in the attention you give him. He loves to play, has vast energy, and is also a big fan of climbing.

Tonto is blind in one eye. Our vets have advised us that surgery will not be necessary for the eye unless something drastic happens to it (unlikely as he is an indoor-only cat). He doesn’t let this slow him down, though, and he’s never let anything get in his way.

6 September 2022 - Update Special Needs Rescue Cat - Maverick

Maverick is the second of our dynamic duo rescued from the local tip, ready to find his forever family. His brother, Tonto, is off to his new home later in the week. Maverick would also love to see his forever humans.

Maverick is a little guy who adores cuddling like a baby. He’s chatty, loves being around people, and wants to be your best friend.

Maverick has a short tail that we believe was cut off as a tiny kitten before rescue. He has been vet assessed, and this shouldn’t lead to any issues in the future. He’s just a bit of an accidental Manx cat!

Maverick is cat and dog-friendly, fully litter trained, and will eat anything.
